Dirt Devil Power Washer
Rodrigo Cortes, director Gallego, 36, was launched this August to the world with his new Hollywood film, Buried (Buried): his first film in English and international in scope, because the protagonist is the Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds (The Proposal) . The film is about a contractor in Iraq who wakes up one morning trapped in a coffin with only 90 minutes, a phone and a flashlight to go. To see how the story ends, we shall have to wait until spring 2010. Cortes, with short films such as Dirt Devil, The 150 meters and feature Callao contestant behind him, is excited about his new job. He sits on the edge of the couch during the interview. We talked recently - "Rodrigo has to eat now," publicist reminds me - however, in a nutshell gives me enthusiasm and spirit that has invested in this project. Perhaps you have little time to shoot his film but knows squeeze every second. It is also the first time I wont make a script that does not belong. I've always written the scripts I've done. An idea is foolish: it is a script of someone locked in a coffin and he has 90 minutes to get there. It was the first thing that attracted me, his character and his character foolish challenging. But I was quite convinced that it would not work. As I started reading it, I called them to block it. Six months later, here we are again . . . it is statistically improbable. It's been amazing. We are shooting to a dizzying pace. You have to be awake 12 hours a day and that is extremely rewarding. We believe that this energy in a way so mad is enriching the film. For example, it requires the actor (Ryan Reynolds) to react immediately, you can not fake it. There is such a concentration, sense of being all in the same boat, which is being achieved against all odds. I fell in love with his immense talent, disproportionate, when I saw The Nines (2007) at the Sitges Festival. I felt great. .
